GIRONA
The fascinating, Roman-founded Catalan regional capital. Between Barcelona, the Pyrenees and the tranquil Costa Brava, near France. Trains and buses radiate in all directions. We give guided visitors a HALF DAY TOWN TOUR.
Walk along the top of the City Walls
- built over 2000 years ago. See the Cathedral, Arab Baths, Jewish Quarter, museums and shops. Spain’s richest city per head, with over 100 restaurants ! On the left, a party explores below the Cathedral.
Visitors often rush off to Barcelona – only to later wish they had explored Girona and Figueres first. ‘The Independent’ said:-
‘Girona is the best place (in the World) for a short break from Britain.’
FIGUERES AND SALVADOR DALI
Figueres has the 4th-most visited museum in Spain, created by Dalí. Truly mind-blowing ! Don’t miss the ’Dalí Jewels’, just outside round the corner. We give you an info sheet and map.
Figueres has the largest 18th Century, cannon-proof fort in Europe ! 35 mins. from Girona, 17 from Llançà, by rail.
Salvador Dalí and his Russian wife, Gala Dali, built her fascinating home – now a ‘Castle Museum’ at Pubol, between Figueres & Girona. We can guide a walk there, including a tour of the Museum.
The home of Salvador and Gala Dali before her departure to Pubol was near Cadaques. Cadaques is accessible by bus or on foot from Llanca. See the picturesque seafront at Cadaques here.
